Is there anyone else who found Roderigo Lopez’s story compelling? Especially after reading ‘The Merchant of Venice’ and considering how to teach it, I found it to be such useful context for teaching the text.
I did not even know about the expulsion of the Jewish Nation!
It struck me deeply how these prejudices have been carried through time. So informative and so useful.

I knew about the expulsion of the Jews but didn’t realise that it lasted that long before they returned.

The modern parallels with attitudes to aliens and strangers struck me – if you take of the dates from some of these documents, some of them could have been written today.
